• Life Story. 20 John Corrothers was born near Londonderry, Ireland in the year 1759. At the age of 14 he left home and entered on a sea faring life. He was under Admiral Rodney during his celebrated West Indies Cruise. He was present at the great naval engagement of April 12, 1782 when Rodney defeated the French and took Count De Grasse prisoner. He was married in 1785 to Catherine McCalla. He emigrated from Londonderry in August and after a six week voyage landed at Wilmington, Deleware in Oct. 1789. He settled on Crooked Run in Green County, Pa. From thence he moved to Indian Creek in Monongalia Co., W. Va. Thence the neighborhood of Smithtown in same County. He died Aug. 15, 1834. He had 9 children, Henry, Elizabeth, John, Andrew, Catherine, Rebecca, Jane, Robert and Mary.
John married Catherine McCALLA, daughter of Unknown and Unknown.9 (Catherine McCALLA was born Est 1760.)
